Benefits & debt advice

Prospect has an in-house Welfare Rights Officer, who can provide tenants with advice and information on a number of benefit or debt worries. We aim to help as many tenants as possible by offering a free and confidential service.

Welfare Rights Service

Our Welfare Rights Officer Fiona McLuckie can make sure you are getting all the benefits that you are entitled to and can also help you appeal if you are unhappy with a benefit decision. Fiona can explain your options if you have debts that you are struggling to manage or bills that you don’t understand. In some cases we can help you apply for grants to help with living expenses or items for your home.

We can arrange a meeting at our office or if you prefer in your home. Or you can have a phone appointment. Fiona also runs weekly outreach surgeries every Wednesday morning at Clovenstone Community Centre from 11.00AM- 1.00PM. Appointments must be booked in advance.

Universal Credit

If you receive Universal Credit, this includes your housing costs. You will need to let the DWP know your housing costs have changed if your rent increases. This will make sure you get all the housing costs you are entitled to.
