Our story
Where it all started….
Prospect Community Housing began in 1988, when 8 local residents founded the Wester Hailes Community Housing Association to bring greater community control to housing in the area. Their goal was simple: to improve homes and strengthen the neighbourhood through locally led decision‑making.
As the organisation grew, we became Prospect Community Housing, continuing our commitment to providing high‑quality, affordable homes across Wester Hailes. Today, we manage around 1,000 homes, including both new‑build and refurbished properties, helping to provide stability and choice for local residents.
Throughout our history, our strength has come from the community. We work closely with partners, local groups, and residents to support projects that benefit Wester Hailes. Prospect continues to play a central role in building a thriving, supportive, and resilient community.
Our Vision and Values
Our vision is: “Providing homes and building communities together.”
We are guided by five core values:
Pioneering – seeking new and better ways to support our tenants
Reliability – delivering consistent, high‑quality services
Listening – valuing tenant voices and acting on feedback
Fairness – treating everyone with respect and integrity
Partnership – working collaboratively for stronger communities
Our Partners
Partnership working is central to what we do. We work closely with a wide range of local voluntary organisations to deliver projects that benefit our tenants and strengthen our community.
We also collaborate with other independent Housing Associations and Housing Co‑operatives in Edinburgh through the ARCHIE alliance.
