How do I apply?

We advertise all our available homes through the Key To Choice website via EdIndex. This is a single access point to social housing throughout the City of Edinburgh.

Registering with EdIndex

You need to be registered with EdIndex if you want to bid for one of our available homes

• You can register online on the Key To Choice website using their online application form

• You can also register using a paper form. Forms can be downloaded and printed from Key To Choice. Or you can email edindex@edinburgh.gov.uk to ask for a form to be sent to you

• We also have registration forms at our office which you can collect from us, or request to be sent to you

• Your registration application will be reviewed, and you will then be given a registration number. You will use this to set up your EdIndex Housing Online account

Bidding for a new home

We advertise our available homes on the Key to Choice website alongside 16 other social landlords including City of Edinburgh Council. You can log your interest, which is called bidding, on the available homes advertised there.

• You can place 3 bids each week. These bids can be placed at any point during the week, there is no priority given to when a bid is placed. A new edition of what is available is published every Sunday

• When you receive your registration number, you will be told if you are a “Starter” or a “Mover” and whether you have any additional priority points for being Homeless, having a Medical condition etc. Before making bids, read the advert carefully to make sure you are eligible for the homes you are interested in

Outcome

We will contact you if your bid for one of our homes has been successful. This will normally be towards the end of the week following the closing date for bids. Due to the number of bids that we get for each property, we are unable to contact those who have not been successful.
