Healthy Homes Pop Up

16 September 2026

We celebrated Scottish Housing Day today by holding a Healthy Homes Pop Up event! The theme for Scottish Housing Day this year is “Healthy Homes, Healthy Futures”, emphasising the contribution housing can make to people’s physical and wellbeing. All our tenants were invited to drop in to our informal morning session in a local property where they could get expert advice from our contractors and staff. We had a packed house with people coming along to find out more about how to best manage their boiler and heating as well as getting some top tips on condensation. We also offered advice on pest control. And we gave guidance on adaptations for people needing to think about changes to their home to help them continue to live independently. We had some giveaway items, and a prize draw as well as plenty of refreshments.

While written and online information about heating, condensation and other healthy home issues is useful, we have found that these pop-up sessions give tenants a chance to ask questions face to face and to see practical demonstrations of tasks such as setting a heating programme. We started asking our heating contractor to physically show how the boiler and heating controls work after feedback that some tenants lacked confidence in changing settings or just altering the thermostat. At our pop-ups, tenants can now practice these tasks themselves and check out any concerns they have in a supportive, informal setting.
