Wester Hailes Fun Run

The Wester Hailes Fun Run had a great turnout, with over 70 people coming along to run, jog and walk the route. Whilst the front placings were as fiercely contested as ever, the main emphasis was on having fun and completing the 5k route, with everyone receiving a medal. This year there were also reusable water bottles available for everyone to carry round the route and take home afterwards. Most people made it back before the rain came down, but everyone got round the whole way despite some very wet showers! The whole event finished with a delicious community meal organised by The Health Agency at Clovenstone Community Centre.

 As a community based housing association, we want to support activities and events that celebrate the local community we are proud to be part of. We are part of the Fun Run Planning Group and we are involved both in the lead up and in providing help on the day. The event is a great example of local partnership working, with a range of organisations working together to make sure that everything goes smoothly. There are also some amazing community volunteers who turn out each year to help on the route and back at the centre. This year the Fun Run was supported by a grant from the City of Edinburgh’s Sports Event Fund.
