Wester Hailes is one of Edinburgh’s most important communities and it’s located in the South West of the city close to major commercial and shopping areas such as Edinburgh Park and the Gyle.

It has a population of around 12,000. Nearly 2,500 of these people stay in Prospect homes. Others have either bought their home or rent from the City of Edinburgh Council.

Wester Hailes has seven main areas: Calders, Clovenstone, Dumbryden, Hailesland, Murayburn, Park & Drive, and Westburn.

Wester Hailes has its own railway station, and the city’s bypass is easily accessible, as is Scotland’s primary motorway, the M8. Edinburgh International Airport is 10 minutes from Wester Hailes, and the recently re-opened Union Canal runs through the heart of the area.

Higher education facilities close to Wester Hailes include Heriot Watt University and Stevenson College. Close by is the City’s burgeoning business area Edinburgh Park.
