Our committee

We’re fortunate at Prospect to be able to call on the knowledge, skills and life experience of many talented people from the community. Local residents who serve on the management committee talk here about their reasons for joining and what their involvement means to them.

Prospect’s management committee is responsible for the day to day running of the association and for its long-term strategy to deliver the best possible housing service to tenants.

Sheila Bunt and Verra Geddes

Bill Buchanan

" I am one of the founder members of the Association and I still get great personal satisfaction from knowing that I am playing a role in improving the quality of housing (and the quality of life) for residents in Wester Hailes."

Rod Mackenzie

" I thought - isn’t it better to take the responsibility to take part in decision making rather than to sit on the outside and whinge. That’s too easy and doesn’t achieve anything. Being on the committee also gives you an understanding of the issues and the implications of the decisions we take."

Alan Gee

" As someone who lives in a Prospect house, I want the opportunity to make sure the needs of the tenants are taken into account. By working on the Committee I am able to influence decisions."

Sheila Bunt

" As former chairperson of Prospect, and one of the original Committee members, I have spent the last 16 years ensuring that the housing and communities that Prospect builds are the best we can make them. Each year brings fresh challenges."

Vera Geddes, Chairperson

"I joined prospect after being in the Rep Council and being the housing convener for about 7 years, I'm very interested in housing .I wanted to make the housing better in Wester Hailes and make it more affordable and prospect is the place to do it as they are local and see and hear what's needed.  I've been on the Committee for 10 years now and still enjoying what we do."

Maureen Connolly

"Been a happy Prospect tenant for 3 years. I lived in Clovenstone prior to regeneration and was involved in the planning stages. I do work for a homeless charity and mental health groups and have a vast experience of committees. "

Bruce Penman

"Keen to support the social housing role of Prospect and also it's wider action role within Wester Hailes Community."

Peter Matthews

"I worked in Wester Hailes and with Prospect for a research project and would like to remain in touch with the organisation on a formal basis."

Shulah Allan

"I am interested in the work Prospect undertakes and what it provides for the Community of Wester Hailes."

Patt Kerr

"I work in housing with young vulberable tenants, Housing Benefit, Rent Arrears, Grants etc. I am interested in housing and I think Prospect are doing a great job and wanted to get involved"

Naomi Mackenzie

"I wanted to be able to voice my opinions and influence decisions."
